Zonsondergang vanaf jachthaven Muelle Uno

Dear reader,

Now that the corona figures are improving in many parts of Europe, we dare to dream again about a holiday abroad. And you, reader, can you see yourself sitting on a terrace by the Mediterranean again? With the sun on your head, your feet in the sand and... tinto de verano or a delicious cold one cerveza in front of you? Well, I do! Because we often visit Malaga, I know better than anyone what Malaga has to offer.

The many faces of Malaga

Not everyone knows that Malaga is more than just a beach destination. It is actually a well-kept secret that Malaga has a perfect mix between culture, sights and beach & relaxation. There are 15 (!) different beaches, almost without exception chiringuitos. These are beach bars where the fish caught in the morning is grilled in front of you on the famous sand-filled beach.ootjes.

Read more below these tempting photos ;-).

There are wide sandy beaches around Malaga and towards Pedragalejo and El Palo (fishing villages within cycling distance of Malaga) there are bays with many fish restaurants. If you want to have lunch there on the weekend, make sure you are there no later than 1 p.m. if you want to get a spot on a terrace. It is a regular practice for families to eat together on Saturdays and Sundays. A typical Spanish custom that ensures noisy fun on the coast. If you want to immerse yourself in Spanish customs, do so on the coast at the weekend ;-).
Hot off the press! As of June 26, it is no longer mandatory to wear a face mask in the open air. At most you want to hold a fan in front of your face to fan yourself ;-). This beautiful mural can be found on Plaza de la Juderia, near the tapas bar El Pimpi, popular with tourists.
Gibralfaro
There is much more to do in Malaga. In the next newsletter I will take you to some interesting sights in Malaga. For example, this photo was taken halfway up the Gibralfaro, a 130 meter high hill. It is an offshoot of the Montes de Málaga which provides fantastic views of Malaga, its harbor and its coastline. With a castle to visit on top of the hill and a beautiful Parador (luxury state hotel). Have a luxurious lunch here or enjoy a drink on the terrace.
