Wonderful beaches to relax

Malaga combines the best of two worlds: a lively historic center and miles of beaches along the Mediterranean Sea. There are about 15 (!) to be found. Malaga's beaches are diverse, and each has its own character. From wide sandy beaches with palm-lined boulevards to small beaches with traditional chiringuitos where fresh fish is grilled over an open fire. Here you can enjoy relaxed beach days, long lunches by the sea, and balmy evenings with a view of the setting sun. Below you will find a few of our favorites.

Malagueta Beach

Playa de la Malagueta is Malaga's most famous city beach and is within walking distance of the historic center. The wide sandy beach is popular with both locals and visitors and is lined with palm trees and traditional beach restaurants (chiringuitos). It's the perfect spot for a beach break during a city break.

📍 Location: Paseo Marítimo Pablo Ruiz Picasso
💡 Tip: try fresh espetos (grilled sardines) at a chiringuito here.

Playa de la Caleta

Playa de la Caleta is located right next to La Malagueta and is a bit quieter. This beach is frequented by locals and has a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to its proximity to the city center, it's perfect for combining with a city stroll or lunch by the sea.

📍 Location: Paseo Marítimo Pablo Ruiz Picasso
💡 Tip: popular with Malagueños, especially in the afternoon.

Playa de San Andrés

Playa de San Andrés is a spacious beach west of the town center, with many amenities and a wide promenade. The beach is well-maintained and less touristy than La Malagueta, making it a favorite with families.

📍 Location: Calle Pacífico
💡 Tip: easily accessible by metro or bus from the city centre.

Pedregalejo Beach

Playa de Pedregalejo consists of several small beaches and has an authentic, local feel. Along the promenade are traditional fishermen's houses and chiringuitos where you can enjoy excellent food. This is a popular spot for a relaxing day at the beach.

📍 Location: Paseo Marítimo de Pedregalejo
💡 Tip: ideal for a long lunch or dinner by the sea.

strand el palo

Playa de El Palo

Playa de El Palo is near our beach house and is our favorite. It's known for its village-like atmosphere. This beach is less touristy and is mainly frequented by locals. Another advantage is that the sea slopes gently here. The promenade is lined with simple but excellent chiringuitos serving fresh fish and seafood.

📍 Location: Calle Quitapenas / Paseo Marítimo El Palo
💡 Tip: one of the best places in Malaga for authentic fish dishes.

Beach of the Peñón del Cuervo

Playa del Peñón del Cuervo, located east of Malaga, is a more natural beach with rock formations and fewer buildings. The beach is popular with locals who want to avoid the crowds and with families who enjoy barbecuing in the designated areas.

📍 Location: Carretera N-340, km 258
💡 Tip: Bring your own food and drinks; facilities are limited.
