Tasty food and drinks
In Malaga, you will find a huge selection of good restaurants in various price ranges. If you stay away from the tourist restaurants, you can hardly go wrong. When we are in Malaga ourselves, we often pay a visit to one of the places listed below. Do you want even more tips for food and drink? Then click on one of the buttons below. Here you will find two blogs by Rosina with mouth-watering culinary tips in Malaga! If you book with us, you will receive a comprehensive overview of our personal favorites, both in the center of Malaga and in El Palo.
La Tranca
A very atmospheric tapas bar where there are sometimes long lines out the door, especially on weekends. Don't let that put you off. Are you looking for a quiet evening at a table? Then you shouldn't be here. But would you like to experience the Spanish passion that people always talk about? Then join the back of the line. Particularly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from about 9 p.m. Mainly Spanish golden oldies are played here and the later in the evening, the louder the (mainly Spanish guests) sing along. Sometimes there is also a dance. In addition to this fun, they also have very tasty tapas! I personally think that they serve the best Pimientos de Padron in all of Malaga here. The wall behind the bar is covered with old LP covers and the bill is written on the bar with chalk. In short, a priceless atmosphere, especially if you come a little later in the evening/week. Address: Calle Carreteria 92. Opening hours: every day from 12 noon to 1 am.
La Recova
As you walk in, you'll wonder if it's a restaurant or a little shop. This hidden gem is located in the Entorno Thyssen district in the center of Malaga. From the outside, it looks like a vintage shop selling all sorts of things (and indeed it is), but inside, it really is a small restaurant. "All of Malaga" comes here for breakfast, so you might have to wait outside for a table to become available. Moreover, you can also come here for an extensive lunch. The menu is small, but it is definitely worth it. And oh yes: They serve only one type of breakfast; a large slice of bread with a variety of homemade savory and sweet spreads. A nice bonus: breakfast costs only €3.20! That includes coffee. Address: Pasaje Nuestra Senora de los Dolores de San Juan, 5 Monday-Friday: 08:30 - 16:00 (note: closed on Saturdays and Sundays!)
Casa Lola
Casa Lola is popular with locals and tourists alike. There's usually a long line waiting outside for a table. That's not surprising, because here you'll find delicious tapas at a good price. It's pleasantly busy and noisy (as always when there are lots of Spanish people), and the food is delicious and fresh. Besides a very wide selection of tapas and montaditos, they also offer raciones (portions) and medio raciones (half portions). Our favorite is Sándwich Club Casa Lola. Many guests praise the patatas bravas. There are now four restaurants, the oldest of which is on Calle Granada. Open daily from 12:30 PM to midnight.
